Welcome to Room 5

Dear Families,
Welcome to first grade and to Room 5! I've been working hard to get the classroom ready for your children and look forward to starting school on Wednesday, August 15. It's exciting to see many familiar families on my roster and I also look forward to meeting those who are new.

The following will help smooth out first day jitters:
  • Before school, make sure your child knows how they will be going home and where they will meet you at the end of the day. Make sure this information is written on the "Going Home" chart on the window.
  • My room will be open around 7:50.
  • Have your child leave their lunch outside the classroom.
  • Find their name and number of their hook on the "Can You Find Your Hook" chart hanging on the window. Then find the hook number in the classroom and have them hang their backpack and outer-garment there.
  • On their desk they will put their name on the paper and start coloring a picture about their summer.
  • As parents, enjoy your first day of first grade and celebrate your child's independence!
The following day and everyday thereafter, the children will keep their backpacks with them and go directly up to the playground, not to the class. They should not be in the halls. In the event of rain, they will go to the MPR before school starts.

I have a pretty complete roster which includes your child's name, guardian's name/s, phone numbers, address and birthday. Please email me to let me know if you are ok with me sharing the above info and your email with the rest of the class.  As soon as I am able, I will send out a copy of the roster contact info. Currently I only have one email for your family. If you would like emails sent to both parents, please email me at carolclouse@gmail.com from the email you'd like to add.

Looking forward to the first day of school!
Carol Clouse
