Our class had a very busy and fun first week of school! We are learning about each other and the routines of our classroom and school. It is clear that your children are going to be a pleasure to teach and get to know this year. Thank you for preparing and copying materials for me, and for your generous donations to our classroom. I look forward to getting to know all of your families this year.

Centers: I am planning to run weekly centers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 8:30 and ending around 9:40.  I need two parents for Monday and Tuesday as I and already have parents who have volunteered for Wednesday. In addition, I would appreciate a parent who would be willing to help out on Friday mornings checking in the homework logs and helping children in the library.

Please make sure your child wears athletic shoes on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Look for your child's library book on Fridays and make sure he/she returns it by the following Friday.

Homework: The homework for first grade is 15-20 minutes of reading and math each day. Look for the "Homework Log" in your child's folder this week and please make sure it is filled in and returned every Friday. To support your child and you with regards to math, I will be sending home a packet of math homework that corresponds to the math lessons I will be teaching in class. Helping your child with the corresponding homework paper to the lesson that they bring home will support their learning, and can be logged in as math homework. Please do not return any of the math homework pages.
