We are working on understanding the differences between telling sentences (use periods), asking sentences (?) and exclamations (!) when reading, and also how we use the correct punctuation in writing. Daily reading and conversation is a great time for you and your child to notice punctuation and their uses.

Your child came home with the Engage New York Module 2 homework packet. Please feel frree to pre-teach the lessons or to reteach after I have taught a math lesson. Support is on-line under Engageny grade 1 module 2.

Www: to, two, were may, way

Phonograms: arow (as in the sound brown and ō as in tow), ou (ou as in the sound shout and ō as in four, ö as in through, u as in famous), oo (ö as in hoot, look, door), ngor

I'm setting up an on-line book order. You may order from any Scholastic on-line catalog, or search Scholastic by levels. Ask your child the level that they are reading and you might want to purchase a book one or two levels beyond. I also will be sending home a coupon for a free book, but you need to spend $10.00 or more. The order will be closed on Tuesday, November 25. (FYI, during conference week there will also be a book fair in the library)

Dates to remember:
Tuesday, November 11 is a holiday
The week of Nov. 17 conference week and dismissal time is 12:20
Thanksgiving week we are off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
