We have been working on our expository writing skills, and applying them to our special American writing. This week we read about Rosa Parks, next week we will read, talk and write about Sacagawea, another brave American.

We will be completing Module 3 and starting Module 4 in math this week. The focus in Module 4 is place value, comparing numbers, addition and subtraction within 40. I will be sending the homework pack and encourage you to either pre-teach or follow-up with the papers you are given.

I understand our class still needs an auction volunteer to organize a project to be auctioned off to help raise money for our school. If you have been unable to help in our class, this may be a perfect way for you and a friend, family member, spouse...to help out.

As we start the new year, I have a few requests. Although they have lasted quite a while, I'm almost out of gummi bears,. Also I'd love some boxes of tissues, we are running low, not that I'm anticipating runny noses. I do not prefer the district issue facial tissue as they are not very soft.

Dates to Remember:
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Monday, February 2
Valentine Exchange: Feb. 12 (See my email for the list of student names)
No School: Feb. 13 and 16. Enjoy a four day weekend.
