Another fun learning week in Room 5! The children were extremely engaged with the Math Festival activities and I noticed that quite a few of our families were able to make it back to school for Math Night!

The children worked in collaborative groups to read and attain information about one American symbol. Then they gathered their information to make a poster which they presented to their classmates. Following that they each wrote about their symbol and three others.

As you may be aware, many children/families have been hit by a bug. Here is the recommendation from the CDC's website:
  • If you or your child gets sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that your child stays home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. The fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.
Another bit of exciting news, I applied for an Omega Nu grant to help purchase a classroom carpet. I was granted $155.00 which I will add to my classroom funds. Now we are just waiting for it to arrive.

We're ready to plant our edible spring garden on the morning of Friday, March 4. If you would like to contribute something, please reply all. We look forward to more cooking and eating.
