The children had great fun harvesting and preparing our lettuce and snap peas from our garden, and other veggies and fruits for our salad bar. Thank you so much for all of the yummy ingredients and condiments. Can't get any better than fresh garden vegetables!

Word wall words will be added to our word wall weekly. Word wall words are also called sight words or high frequency words. These words are very important for your child to master because, believe it or not, they account for a large number of words in any written text. Many of the over 200 word wall words do not follow the basic phonics principles, thus they cannot be sounded out and need to be recognized. Please help your child learn to recognize (read) these words and work towards spelling them.

"ou" makes the following sounds in these words: out, four, through, famous
"oo" makes the following sounds in these words: school, good, door
"ow" makes the following sounds in these words: cow, show
Look for a Lexia Card with your child's username and password in their folder. If the password doesn't work, try using the first two digits of their birth month followed by the day and four digit year. (ex. Oc202016). If your child is missing their card, please send me an email and I will see they have one next week. Lexia Core 5 which is an online systematic reading program and can be accessed through the RDM website. They have been using it at school are many children are excited to work on it at home. It is a very effective, easy, fun way to support your child's learning at home.
