Happy 2017 and welcome back to school. We are already up and running  I've noticed so much growth in your children with regards to focus, reading, math and writing. I can tell that many children worked on skills over break. BTW, we have some incredible dancers; ask your child about Just Dance.

As you may have noticed, different math is coming home. For a number of weeks we will be using Engage New York, which is a program we used last year. Your child will still be have Homework Connections papers, from Bridges.

Just a reminder, although your children do not have formal homework, it is strongly suggested that you find time to build the practice and enjoyment of reading and math and Lexia and Moby Max are good independent skill building programs. Also, if your child is so inclined to writing books, building, artwork... these are all valuable activities.

Our unit of study for Writing Workshop is non-fiction writing. At home, you can support your child by choosing more non-fiction books and noticing the difference between the features of fiction and non-fiction books. We will be reading and writing about important Americans as well as increasing our focus on reading non-fiction books for a number of weeks.
