We have been in school for seventeen days now and we are still working on the appropriate voices and behavior in class, in line and at recess. It is a great time to have a conversation with your child about their behaviors and how their decisions affect their learning and their friends' learning.

In language arts we are learning our short vowel sounds, learning how to code them and are finding them in stories. We are also learning about nouns and are starting Writer's Workshop. 

Our focus in unit 1, module 4 is working on part-part-whole relationships with missing addends and subtraction problems. Also we will look at subitizing quantities to 20, adding and subtracting 1 from those totals.

Thanks to Caitlin's mom and Erik's dad for helping us plant our lovely garden. And Caitlin's mom will return next week so the children can explore bubbles.

A few reminders:

• Book orders are due on Thursday, September 15. Look on the blog for more detailed information. You may not be aware that you are able to order any books on the Scholastic website https://clubs.scholastic.com/.
• Your child brought home a library book, please make sure it is in their backpack by Friday. There will be a tub by the door that they can put it in.
• Picture Day is on Friday.
• Turn in field trip papers.
