It was great seeing my entire class at Back to School Night, that's pretty amazing! Have a great weekend enjoying the first days of September. A few recaps or new information.

• Your child may complete the Home Connections that was sent home at Back to School Night. Please keep at home. 
• We have been practicing number writing and using our number racks to add 10 to various 1 digit numbers.
• In module 3 we will be subitizing (recognizing the number of objects without counting) and using number racks to solve addition problems. We continue to use graphs. When you have a moment, have your child practice counting by 10's, 5's and then 2's.
• We've been working on using upper case letters at the beginning of sentences and with names of people, places and special things.
• Regarding Scholastic book orders, if your child is bringing books home, you now know their level of reading. If your child is not bringing a book bag home, ask them what their level is. Many of the Scholastic books have the reading level listed. Look for the GRL level, then you may want to consider ordering a book that is at a higher level than what they are reading.  
• Make sure you check out my blog. You may want to put your child's star of the week date on your calendar as it takes a bit of planning to make the poster, map and simple family tree. Also you will find resources, and the homework policy.
• If your child is absent, please send an email to both me and jennifer_albores@pvusd.net
• Please label clothing and lunch bags and help your child learn how to tie their shoes.
